happy mommy day

And thus Saturday concluded my playthrough of Mother 3. I was a shut-in. The whole day, playing Mother 3 and occasionally checking FAQs.
Alright, some major rundowns for the people who haven’t played the game but want to in the hopefully near future.
Alright, that’s the general runthrough of some of the things you’ll notice in the game, good to know beforehand. You should also know that a lot of Earthbound elements are taken away as well, including a lot of multi-enemy battles (5+). You’ll get at most about 3 enemies, unless you’re taking on slugs or something.
The difficulty is pumped up a bit from Earthbound and there IS a hard difficulty. You can get this after your first playthrough, this buffs up a lot of bosses and doubles enemy HP (OH FUCK).
The music is pretty spectacular, but you’ll also notice a lot of things that detach this thing from Earthbound. The one thing is pretty much an overlying theme of enemy invasion. Unlike in Earthbound, where you had to go to X location to get to X Sanctuary, this game has a bunch of enemies, all leading back to the central antagonist who will not be named for the sake of spoilers, but will be obvious 5 minutes in. The game is more emotionally intricate as well. The party members, sans Boney, all have goddamn emotions and some sort of background. Not that kid from Twoson. Not that kid from Winters who like machines. Not some little Kung-Fu Kid from Dalaam. Instead, they’re all connected in Mother 3. They’re not silent, as it was in Earthbound and somehow the story binds fucking everything into a whole ball of emotional gooeyness.
As such, there’s shitloads more dialogue than in Earthbound. You’ll find a lot more NPCs, more actual storyline, etc. It has its own quirks that separate it from most other JRPGs. You’ll also see a bunch of Easter eggs that lead back to Earthbound, most of them produced by Dr. Andonuts (Instant Revitalizing Machine, etc).
tl;dr — PLAY IT, IT’S LIKE EARTHBOUND BUT MOAR TEXT, RHYTHM AND COOL CHARACTERS.
That is all. The next post will entail my thoughts on the ending of the game.
EDIT: Here, have some D’AWWWWWWW baby Drago.
